Destination Management

One of the key theoretical and practical areas for success in tourism is destination management. Again, surprisingly, tourism policy knowledge is weak in this respect. Although some academic and professional effort has been dedicated to the analysis of tourism systems at destination level, nothing of the sort of a coherent framework for analysis and policy has emerged. Public and private bodies reinvent the wheel now and again in trying to come up with a coherent set of programmes, measures and actions that will set the ground for effective and efficient destination management.

The UlyssesFoundation and its members have been deeply involved in destination management for many years. They have the necessary skills to assist tourism destination institutions when trying to establish a road map for action. They can also coach these institutions in the take-off stages of a destination management plan, including strategic positioning, place-branding, sustainability and competitiveness matters.
